The Social Connection Fund

Bringing People in Greenwich Together

The Social Connection Fund empowers residents and local organisations to take action for their community, turn their new ideas into reality, and reduce loneliness and isolation across Greenwich.

It provides funding and practical support for you to run a club, activity or event in your neighbourhood.

Residents and organisations can apply for a minimum of £300 and up to £1,500. We want to support projects that help people in Greenwich to connect in new ways and feel a sense of belonging in their neighbourhood.

We are prioritising projects that take place in the following neighbourhoods:

  • Abbey Wood,
  • Charlton Hornfair,
  • Eltham Page,
  • Mottingham, Coldharbour, and New Eltham.

Deadline: 5:00pm, 30th of January 2026.

Led by Local People

1. Greenwich residents set the theme

We chose our theme of social connection after running a community survey across the borough of Greenwich. Respondents told us that loneliness and isolation is one of the biggest issues affecting the borough.

If you would like to have a say on future campaigns, you can sign up to our newsletter here.

2. Greenwich residents create the projects

We want to fund projects that are created and managed by community members themselves. We are looking for people with the drive and ideas to make a difference in their neighbourhood.

Do you think you could become a change-maker? Learn more on how to apply here.

3. Greenwich residents decide what to fund

The people living and working in Greenwich should have a say in what happens in their borough. That's why we are recruiting and training a panel of local residents who will decide what project to fund.

Do you want to make a difference in your community?

Why are we prioritising certain neighbourhoods?

With a limited grants pot, we are focusing on areas where the community need is highest. We have chosen wards in Greenwich that have not had as many resident-focused funding opportunities in recent years and who may have more people struggling with isolation (based on national and local data sets).

For this round of funding, we are focusing on Abbey Wood, Charlton Hornfair, Eltham Page, and Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham. If you're not sure what ward you are based in, you can find out here.

If you want to run a project outside of our priority wards, there are some other local grants which you may wish to look at:

We will try to keep this list updated as we hear of new local funding opportunities. We would also encourage you to sign up to our mailing list to hear about future Greenwich Giving opportunities.
